Our monthly Bereavement social group is an in-person social group that runs on campus every first Tuesday of the month (occasionally it will be on a different day) between 4:30pm and 6pm. It is open to students who have had a recent or historical bereavement that is affecting their wellbeing and possibly their studies. Our aim is to provide a safe space where you can meet others who have a shared bereavement experience, be yourself, feel accepted and comfortable in your grieving and not feel alone or judged.
The group is facilitated by Pat (wellbeing advisor) and Hannah (wellbeing project officer), both of whom have experience of bereavement. It is not a therapy group and doesn’t require anyone to talk about their experiences: it is a safe space where you can choose to be quiet, or to share how you have been doing.
We offer a range of activities depending on what you as a group want to do – whether that’s ordering pizza, playing board games, doing some arts and crafts or gardening, or just having some time out, with a cup of tea and your favourite music. Refreshments are always provided for free. You don’t have to attend every month - just come and go as you please.
