Covid 19 - Autumn term 2021

The Employer Services Team continues to adhere to the guidance of the Government and the University, in terms of safe delivery of activities on campus in Semester One. Listening to the wants, needs and new practices of students and recruiters at this time of change and adaption, we will continue to offer a blended programme of virtual and (wherever possible) in-person engagement events.

Whilst it is hoped most students will be able to return to campus, we appreciate there are still potential risks to large events (changing guidance, participant hesitancy, limited venues) and have opted to plan for some key events to remain virtual to mitigate against any last minute changes. Our Fairs will be held virtually (for the most) and we are thrilled to be working with new platform provider Handshake for all virtual Fairs in the coming academic year. We appreciate too, though, that online attraction and recruitment cannot work for all and therefore may also be able to facilitate a small in-person Fair event later in Semester One (contact the team if interested). In-person and blended events are bookable on request. Please enquire about an ‘Information Sheet’ for more details on these.

We look forward to being able to support the running of your recruitment campaigns, and can offer help and advice at any point needed.

Recruitment events

For more information please contact the Employer Services Team.

Employer events are a major feature of our event programme. They give you an opportunity to meet students in person or virtually and promote your organisation.

We are flexible and very happy to adapt our offering to support your recruitment goals and would be thrilled to design a bespoke recruitment campaign for you.

For more information and pricing please contact the Employer Services Team.

Our events programme runs under three distinct themes.

Career Discovery

All recruitment presentations by employers fall under our Career Discover category. Give our students the opportunity to learn about your company and business sector. You can choose to engage students virtually, on or off campus over lunch or early evening. We can support your recruitment by advising you on how best to target specific cohorts.

Examples of Career Discovery employer events:

  • Employer recruitment presentations
  • Parade stands
  • Panel events
  • Careers Fairs

Career Essentials

Alongside recruitment presentations we give employers the opportunity to offer workshops.

Our series of daytime talks and workshops provide a platform to profile your organisation while cultivating our students’ employability. These sessions generally take place on campus or virtually and are open to all students. Delivering a skills workshop or an occupational talk is an excellent way to raise your profile on campus, and because you are offering a service there is no administration charge. Due to high levels in interest in workshops, we ask employers to submit a brief on what they wish to deliver so that we can ensure an impartial and varied programme.

Please be aware the workshops are often ‘mystery-shopped’ by Student Workers and content may be shared in blogs and on social media.

Examples of Career Essential employer events:

  • Mock Assessment Centres
  • Practice Interviews
  • Case Study interviews
  • Competency interviews
  • Strengths interview
  • Psychometric testing

Career Fulfilment

We also invite employers to help our students develop more broadly. Support our students to develop and engage with skills to future proof their careers, develop resilience and learn tools to manage their wellbeing in the workplace. As with Career Essential events, because you are offering a service there is no administration charge. Due to high levels in interest in workshops, we ask employers to submit a brief on what they wish to deliver so that we can ensure an impartial and varied programme.

Please be aware the workshops are often ‘mystery-shopped’ by Student Workers and content may be shared in blogs and on social media.

  • Resilience
  • Leadership
  • Digital Literacy
  • Networking
